Vernon Arseneau has thirty years of experience in exploration and project management, of which the last twenty have been in South America principally in Peru, Chile and Argentina. Vern was born in Bathurst, N-.B. on the east coast of Canada and has an Acadian heritage. He studied geology at the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton spending one year of his undergraduate studies on an exchange at the University of Liverpool, England. After graduation, Vern spent ten years working on gold and base metals exploration programs in Eastern Canada (Quebec, Ontario and New Brunswick) for a number of small and medium size Canadian exploration and mining companies. While working for SOQUEM (the Quebec government’s mineral exploration company) Vern was instrumental in the discovery and development of the Beauchemin gold mine (1.5m Oz deposit) located just ten kilometers west of the city of Noranda Quebec. After leaving SOQUEM, Vern joined Noranda Inc. where he spent the next twenty years working as exploration manager and senior geologist in Canada and South America. While in Canada, Vern worked on large regional exploration programs in northern Quebec and Newfoundland. He was exploration manager for Eastern Quebec for four years after which he was assigned to manage exploration in Newfoundland and Labrador. Vern managed Noranda’s VMS and gold exploration programs.
After leaving Canada in 1995, Vern went on to work in Chile and Argentina doing mainly property evaluations until he was assigned to manage the Lima office as general manager for Peru for four years. While in Peru, Vern participated in the acquisition and development of the large Antamina skarn deposit as well as continue managing the company’s exploration program. After leaving Peru, Vern was project manager of the El Pachon copper porphyry project in Argentina for two years. From 2006 to 2012 he was Vice President of Exploration for Zincore Metals Inc, a TSX listed Canadian junior exploration company, and was responsible for the exploration of two zinc oxide deposits as well as the discovery of the Dolores Cu-Mo porphyry, both projects located in the prolific Andahuaylas-Yauri porphyry belt of Peru. Vern’s work for Zincore resulted in tripling of the previously reported resources at the Accha-Yanque zinc-lead oxide deposits. From 2012 until today, Vern is Vice President of Exploration for Arena Minerals Inc. a Canadian junior company currently exploring for porphyry copper and epithermal deposits mainly in the Paleocene belt of Chile. Vern is also Vice President Exploration of Fiore Exploration Ltd. A gold exploration focused Canadian company also working in Chile and other South American countries.
