Marcus Stone

Marcus is a corporate lawyer with more than twenty-five years’ experience. Born in Birmingham (UK), Marcus grew up mainly in Devon (UK). Marcus was educated primarily in the UK and France and has been in legal practice in Jersey since 1996. He has a joint honours degree in law and languages (French).

He is an advocate of the Royal Court of Jersey. He has a broad church of practice, including real estate and corporate finance. He is also a registered person (Class G directorships) under the Financial Services (Jersey) Law 1998 and is regulated by the Jersey Financial Services Commission. Marcus is also a member of the disciplinary panel of Jersey Law Society.

Marcus qualified as a Jersey advocate at Crills (now Walkers) before being approached by Ozannes to establish the Jersey legal practice of Ozannes in 2006, which merged with Mourant in 2010.

He established Hatstone Lawyers in December 2011 and Lexstone Lawyers, a law firm specialising in investment funds, real estate, commercial law, banking, private wealth, financial services, employment, environment and intellectual property in December 2015. Lexstone Lawyers is a Jersey legal adviser to Royal Road Minerals Limited. He presently holds various non-executive directorships including a boutique investment bank, real estate companies and entertainment companies. He was a director of the local stock exchange.

His publications comprise local chapters to The International Comparative Legal Guide to Corporate Recovery and Insolvency, Multinational Enterprise Liability in Insolvency Proceedings, Real Estate Finance – Law Regulation and Practice and International Insurance Regulation.
